Welcome to the GARNIX Open Air 2027 in Garching
GARNIX Open Air is the relaxed campus festival of the Technical University of Munich and the sister event of the well-known TUNIX. It traditionally takes place in summer on the forecourt of the Mathematics and Informatics Building on the Garching campus. Over several days visitors can enjoy live music, a cosy beer garden, delicious grilled food as well as sports and cultural activities in a laid-back campus atmosphere. Admission is free.

GARNIX Open Air offers a varied programme over several days from morning until late. During the day the beer garden invites you to linger between lectures or after university, while live bands create the evening atmosphere. The sports festival brings movement and competitions, and the tu film open-air cinema provides relaxed film nights under the stars. The exact band list and daily times will be published on the official website once the 2027 dates are confirmed. Open-Stage slots allow local talents to perform.
Tickets & Admission for GARNIX Open Air Garching
Admission to GARNIX Open Air is free of charge. Costs only arise for food, drinks and optionally for the open-air cinema (previously around 3 euros). Food and drink prices are deliberately kept moderate and student-friendly. Current information and the programme can be found at garnix-openair.de and via the Student Representation of TUM.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Garching
- Best reached by U6 to the final stop “Garching-Forschungszentrum”, then take the south exit towards the MI building – only a few minutes’ walk.
- By car via the A9 exit Garching-Nord (70) towards the research centre / TUM; free parking is available on Anna-Boyksen-Straße.
- Bring light summer clothing and sun protection – the campus is open and sunny; evenings can turn cooler.
- Check accommodation in Garching or Munich early, especially if you plan to stay for several days.
- Combine your visit with a walk across the research campus or a trip into Munich – the U-Bahn connection is direct and frequent.
