From 3 December 2026 to 3 January 2027, the historic center of Ghent transforms into a magical winter wonderland. Set against the backdrop of the imposing Gravensteen (Castle of the Counts) and spreading across squares like Sint-Baafsplein and Korenmarkt, visitors can experience a vibrant and atmospheric Christmas market. The perfect blend of medieval architecture and sparkling festive lights makes this one of the most beautiful events in Belgium.

The Christmas market stretches from St.-Baafsplein all the way to Sint-Veerleplein at Gravensteen. During the week, the stalls open at 12:00 PM, and on weekends they open at 11:00 AM. Visitors can not only shop for handmade gifts but also enjoy the festive atmosphere with music and delicious food. A special highlight is the Winterwonderkasteel, which delights visitors of all ages with its historical yet warm, wintry atmosphere.

Tickets

Admission to the Ghent Christmas Market (Gentse Winterfeesten) and its stalls is completely free. However, if you wish to visit the interior of Gravensteen (Winter Wonderland Castle), it is highly recommended to book tickets online in advance to avoid long queues.
