Welcome to the Graz Advent 2026
From 20 November to 24 December 2026, the city center of Graz is transformed into a magical winter wonderland. Known as the "Advent of short distances," visitors can easily explore the numerous, lovingly designed Christmas markets on foot. From the magnificent backdrop at Hauptplatz to the romantic Schlossberg hill, Graz offers a unique blend of tradition, craftsmanship, and festive magic.

Program
The Graz Christmas markets officially open on 20 November 2026. The main market at Hauptplatz is open daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with food and drink stalls staying open until 10:00 PM. On Christmas Eve (24 December), the markets typically close early at 2:00 PM. A special experience is the "Aufsteirern" market on Schlossberg hill, which takes place strictly on weekends (Friday to Sunday). Starting 28 November 2026, visitors can admire the life-sized Ice Nativity Scene in the Landhaushof, which is beautifully illuminated after dusk.
Tickets
Entry to all public Christmas markets and the Ice Nativity in the Landhaushof is completely free. Regular ticket prices apply for the funicular (Schlossbergbahn) to reach the Schlossberg, but on Advent Saturdays, public transport in zone 101, which includes the funicular, is completely free of charge.

- Take advantage of the free public transportation (excluding night buses) within Graz on Advent Saturdays for a stress-free visit.

- Families with children will enjoy a ride on the Advent train that slowly tours the illuminated old town.
