Welcome to Hamburg Port Anniversary 2027
From 6 to 9 May 2027, Hamburg celebrates its 838th Hafengeburtstag, the world's largest port festival. Around one million visitors from Germany and abroad gather along the Elbe for four days to admire ships from all over the world, enjoy a maritime program and stroll the famous festival mile along the Landungsbrücken. The festival stretches from the Fischauktionshalle past the Landungsbrücken into the Speicherstadt, the Hansahafen and the Museumshafen Oevelgönne.

Program
The festival traditionally opens with the grand ship parade, featuring cruise ships, tall ships, museum vessels and maritime service boats sailing along the Elbe. The international ecumenical service takes place at St. Michaelis church; exact times are published closer to the event by the organisers. A standout highlight is the tugboat ballet, where powerful harbour tugs perform a choreography set to classical music, a spectacle unique in the world. The colourful harbour mile between Baumwall and Landungsbrücken runs continuously across all four days with live music, dance performances and food stalls, ranging from classic northern German fish sandwiches to international specialities. On Sunday, the closing parade sends the participating ships downstream along the Elbe, bringing Hafengeburtstag 2027 to an end.
Tickets
Access to the public festival areas along the Elbe is traditionally free of charge. Separate tickets may be required for individual special events such as harbour cruises, grandstand seating or certain evening shows; details are published closer to the date.
Visitor Tips
- Arrive early, as large crowds gather quickly around the Landungsbrücken.
- Traveling by bus, train or S Bahn is strongly recommended, since parking near the port is limited.
- Pick two or three program highlights in advance and allow enough time to move between locations.
- For a calmer view of the parades, consider less crowded riverside spots like Museumshafen Oevelgönne.
- Bring weatherproof clothing, as most of the festival takes place outdoors along the Elbe.
