From 23 November to 23 December 2026, the city's two most famous markets take center stage: The Historical Christmas Market in front of the impressive City Hall (Rathaus) and the alternative, adults-only "Santa Pauli" market right on the famous Reeperbahn in St. Pauli.

Program
The Rathaus market is open daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM (until 10:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays). The main attraction is the flying Santa Claus, who hovers above the crowd in his sleigh at 4:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 8:00 PM. In stark contrast, Santa Pauli starts its vibrant festivities in the late afternoon and continues into the night, featuring live bands on the show stage and sizzling performances in the strip tent for a unique adult experience.
Tickets
Admission to both Christmas markets is free of charge. At Santa Pauli, entry to specific areas, such as the strip tent, is strictly reserved for visitors aged 18 and over (also free of entry fee). The general market grounds are completely open to the public.
Visitor Tips
- Time your visit to the City Hall market for the late afternoon to catch the spectacular flying Santa Claus.
- Visit Santa Pauli in the evening to fully immerse yourself in the unique Reeperbahn atmosphere.
- Use public transportation (U-Bahn and S-Bahn), as parking in Hamburg's city center and St. Pauli is extremely limited and highly expensive.
- Make sure to try the traditional vintner's mulled wine at the City Hall and a hot winter cocktail at the "Glühwein-Apotheke" at Santa Pauli.
