Welcome to the World's Largest Marksmen's Festival 2027
Every summer, the 10-hectare Schützenplatz in Hannover transforms into a massive fairground. With a tradition spanning over 500 years, the Hannover Schützenfest is officially recognized as the world's largest marksmen's festival. From July 2 to 11, 2027, visitors can once again expect thrilling rides, lively beer tents, traditional brass bands, and the official festival mascot, "Ballerkalle".

Program
The festival kicks off on Friday, July 2, 2027, with the official opening and traditional keg tapping by the Mayor. The undisputed highlight is the grand Marksmen's Parade on Sunday, July 4, 2027. This massive procession is over 10 kilometers long, winding its way from the New Town Hall through the city center to the fairgrounds. The following days offer a colorful program including family days, fireworks, the traditional parrot shooting, and the ceremonial proclamation of the marksmen kings. The festival traditionally ends on the second Sunday in July with a grand military tattoo (Zapfenstreich).
Tickets & Prices
General admission to the Schützenplatz fairgrounds and the beer tents is completely free of charge (€0.00). You only pay individually for rides, food, and drinks at the respective booths. If you want a comfortable view of the grand parade on July 4, you can purchase tickets in advance for the grandstand seats along the route (prices usually range between €20 and €35).
Safety & Rules
- There is a strict no-glass policy across the fairgrounds (except within the designated beer tents and beer gardens).
- Bringing your own alcoholic beverages is not permitted.
- Bag checks are common at the entrances; it is best to leave large backpacks at home.
- On busy days (especially Fridays and Saturdays), an awareness team is on-site, along with a designated "Safe Space" contact point.
Visitor Tips
- It is highly recommended to arrive by public transport. The light rail stops "Allerweg" and "Waterloo" are located right next to the fairgrounds.
- You must try a Lüttje Lage, but make sure to ask a local to explain the correct drinking technique to avoid spilling it on your shirt!
- For families, visiting on Wednesday (Family Day) is worthwhile, as rides offer discounts of up to 50%.
- If you want to watch the Marksmen's Parade on Sunday, arrive early to secure a good spot along the route, as it gets extremely crowded.
