From 23 November to 22 December 2026, the historic Old Town of Heidelberg shines in romantic Christmas splendor. Set against the picturesque backdrop of the world-famous Heidelberg Castle, the market stretches across several squares in the winding streets, offering a unique and festive atmosphere.

Program
The Heidelberg Christmas Market is spread across various squares in the Old Town, including Bismarckplatz, Anatomiegarten, Universitätsplatz, Marktplatz, Kornmarkt, and Karlsplatz. Open daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and Saturdays until 10:00 PM, it attracts visitors with regional crafts and culinary specialties. The ice rink on Karlsplatz and the Winter Woods remain open past Christmas into January 2027.

Visiting the Heidelberg Christmas Market is completely free of charge. No entrance fee or advance reservation is required to stroll through the markets. However, separate fees apply for ice skating and skate rentals at the Karlsplatz rink.

- Visit on a weekday or in the early afternoon to avoid the large crowds, as squares like Universitätsplatz can get very busy on weekends.
