Welcome to the Cochem Wine and Homeland Festival 2026

On the last weekend of August, from 27 to 31 August 2026, the Moselle town of Cochem turns into a lively folk festival. Right beneath the Reichsburg castle, along the Moselle promenade and on the historic market square, locals and visitors come together for one of the largest and most beautiful wine festivals on the Moselle.

Highlights

  • Numerous wine stands serving Riesling wines and sparkling wines from Moselle winemakers
  • Live music and show bands on two stages
  • "Beats and Wine" dance party on Saturday evening at Endertplatz
  • Large parade through Cochem's old town on Sunday afternoon
  • Brilliant fireworks display on Sunday evening, fired simultaneously from the Reichsburg castle and from the Moselle river
  • Sociable gatherings on the market square, Cochem's "living room"

Program

For five days, wine, music and togetherness take center stage. Along the Moselle promenade and around the market square, numerous wine stands offer tastings of fine Riesling wines and sparkling Riesling sekt from local winemakers. Two stages host bands and show acts throughout the festival, and on Saturday evening Endertplatz turns into a large dance floor for "Beats and Wine". The traditional highlight falls on Sunday: at 2:00 PM, the great parade winds through the streets and alleys of Cochem's old town, and at around 10:00 PM the brilliant fireworks display lights up the night sky over the Moselle, fired simultaneously from the Reichsburg castle, 100 meters above the town, and from the river itself.

Tickets

Admission to the Cochem Wine and Homeland Festival is free. Payment is made directly at the wine and food stands, with standard glass or bottle prices for wine and sekt.

Visitor Tips

  • Arrive early on Sunday to get a good spot along the parade route, as the old town gets very crowded.
  • For the fireworks, spots along the Moselle promenade or with a view of the Reichsburg castle are recommended.
  • Book accommodation in Cochem several weeks in advance, as the festival is very popular.
  • Traveling by train or bus is recommended, as parking in the town center is limited during the festival.
  • Bring warm clothing for the evening, as celebrations take place outdoors.
