Welcome to the Herbstlibori 2026 in Paderborn

Herbstlibori 2026 takes place from 17 to 25 October on Liboriberg in Paderborn. The roughly 400-metre fairground with more than 60 showmen marks the atmospheric close of the city’s folk-festival season. Admission to the fair is free.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026

The fair is open Monday to Thursday from 14:00 to 22:30, Friday and Saturday from 14:00 to 23:00, and Sunday from 11:30 to 22:30. Herbstlibori commemorates the 1627 return of the relics of the city’s patron saint, Liborius, which had been stolen in 1622. On the final weekend, the secular fair is joined by the Liborius Society programme and the solemn elevation of the relics in the cathedral. Admission to Herbstlibori on Liboriberg is free of charge. Rides, games and food are paid for directly at the attractions and stalls. There is no central entry ticket. Updates are published by the City of Paderborn at paderborn.de/libori.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Paderborn

  • Arrive by train at Paderborn Hauptbahnhof; the old town and Liboriberg are reachable on foot or by city bus.
  • Bring a warm autumn coat, sturdy shoes and a waterproof layer, as the fair is outdoors.
  • Book city-centre accommodation early, especially for the last October weekend with late-night shopping Sunday.
  • Park at Königsplatz underground car park, Paderhalle or Neuhäuser Tor; around 4,000 spaces are available near the centre.
  • Families benefit from earlier Sunday opening from 11:30 before evening crowds build.

Herbstlibori Fair 2026 on Liboriberg

The heart of the event is the 400-metre fair front on Liboriberg, with rides, sweets, food stalls and sideshows. Lower Westernstraße adds further stalls and a children’s carousel. The autumn edition is smaller than summer Libori, but remains Paderborn’s traditional close to the fairground year.

Festival of the Return of the Relics 2026 in Paderborn

On 24 October 2026 at 19:30, the Liborius Society holds its festive event in the Historic Town Hall. On 25 October at 10:00, a pontifical mass with the solemn elevation of the relics takes place in Paderborn Cathedral, celebrated by Archbishop Dr Udo Markus Bentz. At 16:00, the Liborius Brotherhood vespers concludes with the reinterment of the relics. Entry to the church services is free.
