Event Details

What happened to the Highfield Festival?

For almost thirty years, the Highfield Festival was a fixture of the German festival scene and a meeting point for the country's indie rock and alternative music fans. Organisers FKP Scorpio and Semmel Concerts have announced that the 2026 edition was, for now, the last one. The reason given was sharply rising production costs across the industry, which made the festival unsustainable in its previous form. The final edition was themed "One Last Dance" and turned into a big farewell party.

Where did the Highfield Festival take place?

The festival was held on the Magdeborner peninsula at Störmthaler See near Großpösna, south of Leipzig in Saxony. The lakeside setting with its sandy beach was one of the festival's signature features, with many fans swimming during the day before the concerts started in the evening.

When was the final edition?

The last edition of the Highfield Festival ran from 14 to 16 August 2026 (with some arrivals already from 13 August). Around 28,000 tickets were sold; earlier editions had drawn up to 35,000 visitors.

Who played at the last Highfield Festival?

For the farewell edition, the line up brought together major names from the German and international music scene: Kraftklub, Beatsteaks, SDP, Marteria, Dropkick Murphys, Feine Sahne Fischfilet, Querbeat, Zartmann and ZSK, among many others. The festival closed at midnight with a small fireworks display.

How much did the last edition cost?

For reference, a festival pass with camping was priced at around 141.50 euros for the final edition, with single tickets and higher categories reaching over 250 euros.

Will there be a successor event at Störmthaler See in 2027?

No official continuation has been announced. The organisers hinted that new and different concepts could emerge at the lake in the future, now that there is time to develop them carefully, but no concrete new festival with a date currently exists.
