Welcome to the Hintertux Oktoberfest and Almabtrieb 2026 in Tux
On the last weekend of September, two traditions come together in the Tux valley in the Zillertal: the Hintertux Oktoberfest and the Almabtrieb cattle drive from the Bichlalm. At the festival grounds near the base station of the Hintertux glacier cable car, decorated cows are driven down into the valley while a farmers market, a beer tent and live music keep the mood high.

Program and Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The festival begins on Friday evening with the opening in the beer tent. On Saturday the farmers market opens in the morning, followed around midday by music groups and flag wavers, before the cows from the Bichlalm arrive at the festival grounds in the early afternoon. In the evening, the beer tent takes over with brass bands and live music well into the night.
Tickets and Admission for the Hintertux Oktoberfest 2026
The farmers market and the Almabtrieb itself are free to attend. Entry to the beer tent on Saturday evening, from 18:00, costs around 14 euros. Full program details and admission information for the 2026 edition will be published in due course by the Tux Finkenberg tourism board and the Tux volunteer fire brigade.
Visitor Tips: Travel and Accommodation in Tux
- Traveling by train to Mayrhofen and then by bus to Hintertux is recommended, since parking can fill up quickly on festival days
- By late September, temperatures in the Tux valley can already turn autumn cool, so warm clothing for the evening is a good idea
- Accommodation in Tux and across the Zillertal should be booked early given the popularity of the weekend
- Arriving early for the beer tent in the evening is worthwhile, as good spots can fill up fast
