Welcome to the Historischer Annamarkt 2027 in Duren
From 11 to 13 June 2027 the Historischer Annamarkt returns to Duren’s old town after a break of more than seven years. The last edition was held in 2019. Organised by the Duren historical-festival association together with the city, the weekend brings the years 1501 to 1543 back to life, when the relic of Saint Anne turned Duren into a pilgrimage town and Emperor Charles V visited the city.
This is not an annual fair. The yearly Annakirmes in late July is a separate event. After 2027 the organisers intend to hold the Annamarkt about every two years. The city calendar lists the weekend as an all-day festival; exact daily hours may still be adjusted.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027
The Historischer Annamarkt runs from Friday 11 June to Sunday 13 June 2027 in Duren’s city centre. Late-medieval market stalls, traditional crafts and costumed groups show everyday life, guilds and courtly society of the early modern period. A landsknecht camp sits beside the markets and adds camp life and armour.
A special feature of the 2027 edition is a new production of a historical play about the siege and destruction of Duren in 1543. The large parade through the old town recalls the splendid entry of Emperor Charles V in 1531. The city is still shaping the detailed timetable, so visitors should check Duren’s official calendar shortly before the weekend.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Duren
- Duren is on the Cologne–Aachen railway. The old town is a short walk from the station. Streets in the centre are likely to be closed during the festival, so public transport is the better option.
- Mid-June in the Eifel is usually mild. Wear sturdy shoes for cobbled streets and bring a light rain jacket.
- Book hotels in Duren and the surrounding district early. The weekend draws visitors from the Rhineland and the Eifel.
- Do not miss the parade. In earlier editions it was the strongest moment of the weekend. Confirm the start time in the city’s programme.
- Do not confuse this event with the Annakirmes. That is the large annual funfair in late July and early August, with a completely different programme.
