Welcome to the Hogueras de San Juan 2027 in A Coruña

The Hogueras de San Juan, known in Galician as the Noite de San Xoán, are A Coruña’s great summer festival and a Fiesta of International Tourist Interest. On the night of 23 to 24 June 2027, hundreds of bonfires burn on Riazor and Orzán beaches, and in San Amaro, Oza and neighbourhoods across the city. 24 June 2027 is a local public holiday.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027

The main night is always 23 June. In 2027 that falls on a Wednesday, and celebrations run into the early hours of Thursday 24 June. Daytime usually brings parades, traditional music and events on Plaza de María Pita and in the barrios. In recent years the city has closed the seafront promenade at Riazor, Orzán and Matadero from about 19:00 and distributed firewood at fixed points. At midnight the falla and fireworks follow. Beaches are normally cleared around 06:00 on 24 June so cleaning can start.

The detailed 2027 cultural programme — concerts, Meiga ceremonies and neighbourhood slots — is published by the city in spring. The night itself has followed the same pattern for years. Official rules appear in the Concello’s annual bando.

Tickets & Admission for Hogueras de San Juan A Coruña

Entry to the beaches and the public bonfires is free. There are no tickets. Food and drink at grills and bars are paid on the spot. Current notices are published by the organising commission at hoguerassanjuan.com and by Ayuntamiento de A Coruña.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in A Coruña

  • Arrive by bus or train. The promenade beside the main beaches is closed to cars on the evening of 23 June. Parking near the sand fills early.
  • June evenings on the Atlantic can be windy and cool. Bring a warm layer, sturdy shoes and keep a safe distance from the fires.
  • Book rooms in the centre or near Riazor months ahead. The night draws well over 100,000 people to the beaches.
  • In recent years swimming has been banned from 22:00 on 23 June until 09:00 on 24 June for safety. Check the 2027 bando before anyone enters the water.
  • Burn only the wood provided. Liquid accelerants, plastic, mattresses and varnished timber are forbidden. Public sardine grills must be notified to the city in advance.

Riazor and Orzán: the main bonfire night in 2027

Riazor and Orzán are the heart of the Noite da Queima. Most fires are here, the falla burns here, and the flames reflect on the Atlantic. Matadero, San Amaro and Oza are also official wood and fire zones. For the densest atmosphere, claim a spot on the sand early and plan to be there at midnight.

Sardine grills and neighbourhood bonfires

Away from the beaches, almost every barrio grills sardines and churrasco. Cultural events with Meigas, folk dance and music run in the days before 23 June. Plaza de María Pita is a recurring stage for concerts and the civic programme, not the site of the main beach fires.
