Welcome to the Houghton Festival 2027 in King's Lynn

Houghton Festival 2027 returns to the grounds of Houghton Hall near King's Lynn in Norfolk – a boutique, adults-only (18+) arts and music festival curated by Craig Richards and produced by the team behind Gottwood. It traditionally takes place in August; exact 2027 dates will be announced on the official website. Houghton is renowned for its 24-hour music licence, uncompromising d&b audiotechnik sound systems, and a carefully programmed line-up of techno, house, live electronics and more.

Highlights & Attractions at Houghton Festival in King's Lynn

  • A genuine 24-hour music licence: DJ sets and live performances run through the night from Friday into the early hours of Monday – one of the few UK festivals licensed for non-stop sound.
  • Reference-grade audio: d&b audiotechnik systems on every stage, including KSL on the Derren Smart Stage and a 360° Soundscape installation in the Warehouse.
  • Around a dozen stages across the Houghton Hall estate, including the Pavilion, Warehouse, Derren Smart Stage, The Quarry, Giant Steps, The Earthling, Outburst, Pinters, Stallions, Old Gramophone, Terminus, The Armadillo and The Orchard.
  • Art on equal footing with music: contemporary installations, purpose-built spaces and the hall’s sculpture park set across woodland, lake and open parkland.
  • Camping included with General Admission, 24/7 showers, and a capacity of around 10,000. No day tickets. Boutique camping and live-in vehicle passes are available separately.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027

Houghton Festival 2027 is expected to follow the established pattern of recent editions: gates typically open from Thursday midday, with the arena coming alive on Thursday evening. From Friday morning, the 24-hour licence allows continuous programming through to around 03:00 on Monday. The emphasis is on long, often multi-hour sets rather than short headline slots – house, techno, dub, live electronics, ambient and unexpected crossovers. The 2027 line-up has not been announced; previous years have featured artists such as Ricardo Villalobos, Ben UFO, Midland, Calibre, DjRUM, Optimo, Shanti Celeste and Underground Resistance. Curator Craig Richards programmes with a meritocratic eye: established names sit alongside debuts and extended residencies.

Music is only half the weekend. Site-specific art, hidden stages in woodland, quarry and lakeside settings, and Houghton Hall’s sculpture park are integral to the experience. There is no conventional “daytime vs. headliner” split: daytime, night-time and dawn slots are programmed with equal care. Showers stay open 24/7 and most vendors are cashless. The event is strictly 18+ with a Challenge 25 ID policy.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in King's Lynn

  • Travel: Direct trains run from London King’s Cross to King’s Lynn (around 1 hour 45 minutes); an official festival shuttle usually operates from the station to Houghton Hall. By car, use the A148 (King’s Lynn–Fakenham); the hall sits about 13 miles east of King’s Lynn and a parking pass is extra. National coaches from major UK cities and a bike compound (GA and Boutique) are typically available. Nearest airport: Norwich, with London Stansted as the main alternative.
  • Weather and clothing: August in Norfolk brings mild days (often around 20–22 °C), cooler nights and a real chance of rain. Pack wellies, a waterproof, layers and a warm hoodie for 24-hour sets. Glass is banned on site.
  • Accommodation: GA camping is included in the weekend ticket. Boutique camping (yurts, bell tents, Lakeside/Village) sells out fast and should be booked as soon as you have a ticket. Hotels and B&Bs in King’s Lynn and holiday cottages across North Norfolk are limited – book early.
  • Festival-specific tip: Bring valid photo ID (driving licence, passport or PASS 18+ card). Campsite alcohol limits apply (typically up to eight cans or one decanted bottle of wine; no glass). Personal Bluetooth speakers, camping stoves and drones are prohibited. The site is largely cashless. Staying only at the main stages means missing Houghton: the installations, hidden stages and sculpture park are part of the design.
