Welcome to Hyperreality Festival 2026
From 21 to 23 May 2026, Vienna once again hosts the Hyperreality Festival, an annual festival for electronic and experimental music held in an off location away from conventional club spaces. This year the festival returns to the Otto Wagner Areal on Baumgartner Höhe, turning the former industrial kitchen of the historic hospital site into a two floor festival venue. Under the theme "Tell me, is this your first time in reality?", Hyperreality approaches music not as a finished work but as a time based, spatial and social practice that emerges through the interplay of sound, architecture and collective attention.

Program
The festival opens on 21 May at Filmcasino Wien with screenings that deepen the festival's core themes and bring international perspectives, while the programme at the Otto Wagner Areal already begins the same evening. On 22 and 23 May, the former kitchen building becomes the festival's main venue across two floors, hosting concerts, DJ sets, performances and club nights by international and local artists working at the intersection of music, performance and visual art. Rather than sticking to fixed genre categories, the festival is interested in the moments when musical orders start to shift.
Tickets
Tickets for Hyperreality Festival are available through the official website hyperreality.at, with prices ranging from around 39 to 69 euros depending on ticket type and event. Tickets for the film programme on 21 May are sold separately through the Filmcasino Wien website. Since the festival takes place in a limited capacity off space, early booking is recommended.
Visitor Tips
- Public transport is recommended, for example the U4 line to Unter St. Veit followed by a connecting bus.
- Once you enter the festival grounds, leaving and re entering during your stay is not possible.
- Camping is not available at the Otto Wagner Areal, so book accommodation in Vienna well in advance.
- Bring warm clothing for the night, as parts of the programme run into the early morning hours.
- Night buses run back to the city centre until around 3 AM, stopping at Westbahnhof, Karlsplatz and Schwedenplatz among others.
