On 22 August 2026, Reykjavik celebrates Menningarnótt: over 400 free events, live concerts, open museums, street theatre and a grand fireworks finale at 10 PM transform the entire city centre into one spectacular open-air festival. All events free of charge.
Iceland Airwaves returns to Reykjavik from 5 to 7 November 2026. The world's northernmost music festival takes over the entire city centre with Icelandic emerging artists and international names. Special Events feature Shygirl, Daði Freyr and The Streets. Festival passes from approx. €57.
On 6 December 2026, Iceland's 13 Yule Lads invite visitors to join them for their once-a-year bath at Earth Lagoon Mývatn starting at 4:00 PM. A Christmas market at Skjólbrekka and a Yule Lads visit at Dimmuborgir complete the most magical winter day in North Iceland.
Aldrei fór ég suður returns on 26–27 March 2027 in Ísafjörður: two nights of Icelandic live music in a historic fish warehouse on the fjord, and admission is completely free. One of Europe's most authentic festivals.
Þjóðhátíð 2026 on the Westman Islands takes place 31 July to 3 August in Herjólfsdalur valley. Join 15,000 visitors for four days of live concerts, a traditional bonfire, spectacular fireworks and the unforgettable communal hillside sing-along.
