Welcome to ImPulsTanz Festival 2027
From 8 July to 8 August 2027, Vienna once again becomes an international meeting point for contemporary dance and performance. Founded in 1984, the ImPulsTanz Vienna International Dance Festival is regarded as one of the largest and most important festivals of its kind worldwide. Every year it presents dozens of productions by international and Austrian artists, alongside an extensive supporting program of workshops, research projects and free public dance events.

Program
Each year the ImPulsTanz stage program includes more than fifty productions across around fifteen venues in Vienna, including numerous world premieres and Austrian premieres. Alongside the performances, the festival offers a broad supporting program with exhibitions, symposiums and discourse formats. In parallel, around 250 workshops and research projects covering a wide range of dance styles take place at the Arsenal Wien, taught by international and local instructors. The free Public Moves program brings outdoor dance classes to Vienna and several other Austrian cities; the festival summer is accompanied by parties at the Festival Lounge in the Burgtheater Vestibül and a large closing party at the end of the workshop weeks.
Tickets
Advance sales for selected productions usually open in early May, with the rest of the program following in June. Tickets are available online through the festival website as well as at the day box office; exact prices for each production are published in spring. As a guide, performance tickets in previous years started at around eight euros and could rise to about thirty euros depending on seating category and production. Discounts are available for pupils, students under 27, people over 60 and holders of certain cards and passes.
Visitor Tips
- Book tickets for popular productions early, as they can sell out quickly.
- The Arsenal Wien and the other venues are well connected by public transport.
- Public Moves classes are free and welcoming to beginners without dance experience.
- Register early for workshops, as popular courses fill up fast.
- The Festival Lounge at the Burgtheater Vestibül offers free admission on several weekdays.
