Welcome to the International Roman Days 2026 in Aalen
On 26 and 27 September 2026 the Limes Museum and the Archaeological Park in Aalen transform into a living Roman camp. The XIV. International Roman Days – the oldest Roman festival in southern Germany – invite visitors to an authentic journey back in time on the site of the former largest Roman cavalry fort north of the Alps. More than 200 historical reenactors from Germany and Switzerland present civilian, military and craft life of the Roman era along the Limes over 1,800 years ago.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
On both days visitors can enjoy numerous performances, interactive activities and historical presentations across the fort grounds. Highlights include impressive demonstrations of Roman cavalry and gladiator fights that bring ancient combat arts to life. Groups such as the POPVLARES VINDELICENSES illustrate civilian life in the province of Raetia with a reconstructed Roman house. Craftspeople demonstrate traditional skills while the museum education programme invites children and adults to participate actively. Saturday 26 September 2026: 11:00–18:00; Sunday 27 September 2026: 11:00–17:00.
Tickets & Admission for International Roman Days Aalen
Tickets are available in advance at the Tourist Information Aalen (Reichsstädter Straße 1), directly at the Limes Museum, by email to [email protected] or by phone at 07361 528287-0. Prices (as of 2026): Adults €19, reduced €17, children from age 6 €13, family ticket €38, 2-day ticket €31, 2-day family ticket €61, groups of 15 or more €17 per person. Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Aalen
- Arrive by car via the A7 or by train to Aalen station; the Limes Museum is easily accessible with parking available nearby (e.g. Stadthalle/Limesmuseum).
- Wear comfortable, weatherproof clothing and sturdy shoes as large parts of the programme take place outdoors in the Archaeological Park.
