Welcome to the International Schiller Days 2027
Every two years, Mannheim turns into a hub for contemporary theatre for ten days. The International Schiller Days at the Nationaltheater Mannheim bring together guest performances, world premieres and coproductions from across the German speaking world and beyond, using the work of Friedrich Schiller, the theatre's first resident playwright, to ask urgent contemporary questions. The 24th edition takes place in 2027; there is no 2026 edition, since the festival only happens in odd numbered years.
Important note: at the time of research, the Nationaltheater Mannheim had not yet published the exact dates for 2027. The dates above are an estimate based on the pattern of recent editions (2021: 17 to 27 June, 2023: 22 June to 2 July, 2025: 19 to 29 June) and will be updated once the official dates are confirmed.

Program
The detailed program for the 24th International Schiller Days is expected to be announced in spring 2027. Previous editions featured around twelve productions, including opening premieres, world premieres and international coproductions, complemented by an extensive supporting program of talks, readings, city explorations and parties. Beyond the main stages of the Nationaltheater, the festival traditionally activates public space across Mannheim, and the Schill Out concerts round off each evening at the festival center.
Tickets
Advance sales usually open in April of the festival year, with Nationaltheater subscribers typically getting earlier access. In past editions, a festival subscription offered five tickets for different performances at the price of four. Regular ticket prices have recently ranged from around 15 to 45 euros depending on production and category; final 2027 pricing will only be confirmed alongside the official program.
Visitor Tips
- Book tickets early once the official dates are announced, as popular performances sell out quickly.
- Mannheim is easily reached by train and tram from across the Rhine Neckar region.
- Much of the public space program is free to attend; it's worth checking the detailed schedule.
- Many performances include English or German surtitles for international visitors.
- The festival center with the Schill Out concerts is a great spot for a relaxed evening after a show.
