Welcome to Jazz em Agosto 2027 in Lisbon
Jazz em Agosto 2027 returns to the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon – one of Europe’s leading festivals for contemporary and avant-garde jazz. For decades, under artistic director Rui Neves, the event has presented original, experimental and improvised music across three distinctive spaces: the Grand Auditorium, Auditorium 2 and the Open-Air Amphitheatre in the Gulbenkian Garden. Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027
The 2027 lineup has not been announced. Jazz em Agosto is known for creative, original forms of jazz that keep evolving without losing their roots. The 2026 edition (42nd festival) featured fourteen concerts from 31 July to 9 August, including Joachim Kühn (solo piano), David Maranha & Rodrigo Amado, Canyon, Fred Moten & Brandon Lopez, Shardik, LUME – Lisbon Underground Music Ensemble, Anna Webber: Shimmer Wince, Ches Smith: Clone Row, Pat Thomas, Tomas Fujiwara: Dream Up, Chicago Underground Duo and SML. A similar curatorial approach is expected for 2027; the full programme is usually published in the spring before the festival.
In recent editions, afternoon concerts in Auditorium 2 started at 18:30 and evening concerts in the Open-Air Amphitheatre at 21:30. A single Grand Auditorium concert often opened the series. Tickets & Admission for Jazz em Agosto Lisbon
Tickets for Jazz em Agosto 2027 are not on sale yet. For orientation, the 2026 price structure (all figures in euro) was: individual Auditorium 2 tickets about 12–14 euro, Grand Auditorium about 17 euro, Open-Air Amphitheatre about 14–23 euro; afternoon pass (four concerts at 18:30) 40 euro; evening / Open-Air Amphitheatre pass (nine concerts at 21:30) 100 euro. A 10 percent discount applied with the Cartão Gulbenkian. 2027 prices may change. Tickets are sold via gulbenkian.pt/jazzemagosto and at the box offices in the Main Building and the Centro de Arte Moderna. Passes and popular concerts sold out early in previous years.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Lisbon
- Getting there: Closest metro stations are São Sebastião (blue and red lines, with elevator) and Praça de Espanha (blue line). Entrecampos train station is about a 15-minute walk. Carris buses serve Avenida de Berna and the surrounding area. Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) is well connected by metro and bus.
- Weather and clothing: August in Lisbon is warm and dry; evenings in the garden can feel cooler. For the Open-Air Amphitheatre, bring light layers and comfortable shoes; insect repellent can help.
- Where to stay: Hotels and apartments around São Sebastião, Praça de Espanha and Avenidas Novas are in high demand in peak season – book early. The Gulbenkian location is central and well connected.
- On site: The Gulbenkian complex includes museum, garden and concert halls. Allow time for the park. Accessible routes to the amphitheatre are available (ramps, designated parking).
