Welcome to the Kaltenberg Knights Tournament 2026
From 10 to 26 July 2026, Schloss Kaltenberg near Munich opens its gates for the 38th edition of the world's largest knights tournament. Across three weekends, the historic Wittelsbach castle in Geltendorf transforms into a medieval world of jousting, sword fights, fire shows and lively market activity. Over 100,000 visitors each year experience a spectacular event for the whole family.
Event Days and Program 2026
The tournament takes place across nine days over three weekends, each with its own format:
- Jesters' Night (Friday, 10 July): Gates open at 5:00 PM. Evening program with jesters, music and market until 2:00 AM. No arena show on this evening.
- Night Tournaments (Friday, 17 and 24 July): Gates open at 5:00 PM; grounds procession at 7:00 PM; Knights Tournament Show 9:00–11:00 PM; program until 1:30 AM.
- Evening Tournaments (Saturday, 11, 18 and 25 July): Gates open at 4:00 PM; grounds procession at 6:00 PM; Knights Tournament Show 8:00–10:00 PM; program until 12:30 AM.
- Day Tournaments / Family Day (Sunday, 12, 19 and 26 July): Gates and program from 12:00 PM; grounds procession at 2:00 PM; Knights Tournament Show 4:00–6:00 PM; program until 8:30 PM.

Tickets and Prices 2026
Tickets are available online at ritterturnier.de. The Jesters' Night (10 July) has its own ticket price. Price categories for tournament days:
- Standing admission (grounds and standing area in arena): €34.90
- Arena seat, blocks D / E: €59.90
- Arena seat, blocks B / C / F / G: €64.90
- Arena seat, blocks A / H (covered): €74.90
- VIP box (Loge): €89.90
- Front row arena: €5.00 discount per ticket
- Jesters' Night: €44.90
Children under 4 enter free. Children aged 4–14 receive a 15% discount in all categories. On Sundays, a Family Special offers 30% off for children aged 4–14. Wheelchair users enter free. Last-minute tickets are available at the box office from 3 hours before program end (adults: €10, children: €5, subject to availability). Group rates are available by phone.
Getting There
Schloss Kaltenberg is located approximately 50 km west of Munich. The nearest airport is Munich (MUC). By car, the castle is accessible via the A96 motorway or the B12 road. Public transport via S-Bahn towards Geltendorf is also available. Early arrival is recommended due to high visitor numbers.
Visitor Tips
- Book tickets online in advance as popular dates and categories sell out quickly.
- The Sunday family day tournaments are ideal for families with children (Family Special discounts and earlier show times).
- Medieval costumes are widely worn and warmly welcomed.
- The Ritterschwemme medieval banquet can be reserved in advance.
- Arena blocks A and H are covered and recommended for changeable summer weather.
- Arrive early as the grounds fill up quickly.
