Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The Karlsruhe Christmas Market opens on 23 November 2026 and runs until 23 December. Opening hours are Sunday to Thursday from 11:00 to 21:00 and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 to 22:00. Marktplatz hosts the Light Christmas with Ferris wheel and mulled wine pyramid for an urban experience, while Friedrichsplatz offers the romantic Forest Christmas with its gabled houses. The Flying Santa appears daily over the square. The programme is completed by the Children’s Land at St. Stephan and the Stadtwerke WINTERZEIT ice rink in front of the palace.

Children’s Land St. Stephan 2026
From 23 November to 23 December the Children’s Land is created at St. Stephan church square. A small steam train, fairy-tale scenes, a talking fairy-tale tree and a changing stage programme delight families with children in particular.
Stadtwerke Karlsruhe WINTERZEIT on Schlossplatz 2026/2027
In front of Karlsruhe Palace, Stadtwerke WINTERZEIT offers a large ice rink, a curling arena and a winter village. The facility is usually open from late November 2026 until the end of January 2027 and ideally complements the Christmas market for families and winter sports fans.
Medieval Christmas Market in Durlach 2026
In the historic district of Durlach a traditional medieval Christmas market takes place. With authentic atmosphere, craftsmen, musicians and historical performances it provides a special addition to the large Christmas market in the city centre. Exact 2026 dates are usually confirmed in autumn.
