Program Overview

The full official schedule has been published by LPA Carnaval. The season opens on 22 January with the Opening Parade and the official Pregón. The following weeks feature multiple rounds of competitions for Murgas (satirical choir groups) and Comparsas (dance and music troupes), building toward their respective finals. The Grand Dame Gala takes place on 5 February, followed by the eagerly awaited Carnival Queen Gala on 8 February. The undisputed centrepiece of the entire festival is the Drag Queen Gala on 19 February and the Gran Cabalgata on 20 February 2027, when elaborately decorated floats, dancers and musicians parade through the city centre. The festival closes on 28 February with the traditional Burial of the Sardine at Las Canteras Beach.

Theme 2027: Music

The official theme of the 2027 Las Palmas Carnival is "Music". The entire city becomes a living tribute to global sounds, iconic musical eras and the energy that connects cultures through rhythm and song. Costumes, stage sets and parade floats are all inspired by this theme, creating a visually and sonically extraordinary atmosphere.

Venues

The main stage and headline events are centred around Parque de Santa Catalina, the beating heart of the carnival. The Gran Cabalgata runs through the city centre. Additional events take place at Plaza de la Feria, Plaza del Pilar and throughout the wider city. The iconic Las Canteras Beach serves as the backdrop for the closing ceremony, the Burial of the Sardine.
