Welcome to the Christmas Market Kempten 2026 in Kempten
The Christmas Market Kempten 2026 transforms the historic old town of Kempten into a festive winter wonderland from 26 November to 21 December. Located on Rathausplatz in front of the town hall, it offers sparkling lights, regional specialities and traditional Christmas atmosphere. Admission is free.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The Christmas Market Kempten 2026 is open daily from 12:00. Closing times are 20:00 Sunday to Thursday and 21:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. The supporting programme features choirs, bands and dance groups. Highlights include the Kempten Crib Magic with life-size figures at the town hall, the Bründl Nativity in the crypt of St. Lorenz Basilica and an exhibition of handmade cribs in the town hall foyer. The Christmas train runs hourly from 14:00 to 18:00 Thursday to Sunday.
Kempten Christmas Market 2026
The main Christmas market takes place on Rathausplatz and is regarded as one of the most beautiful in the Allgäu. Visitors enjoy a cosy atmosphere with crackling fire bowls and a dense canopy of lights over the stalls. Local artisans offer gift ideas alongside classic Christmas specialities.
Kempten Crib Magic 2026
Alongside the market, Crib Magic features life-size hand-carved figures made of Swiss stone pine at the town hall. The extensive Bründl Nativity with over 200 figures is displayed in the crypt of St. Lorenz Basilica. Handmade cribs by students and hobbyists are exhibited in the town hall foyer.
Kempten Christmas Train 2026
Throughout the market period the Christmas train operates Thursday to Sunday. Rides are free (donations welcome) and start at Gerberstraße. The approximately 30-minute tour provides information about local sights.
