Welcome to the Kiliani Volksfest Würzburg 2027
From 2 to 18 July 2027, the Talavera festival grounds on the banks of the Main once again become Lower Franconia's largest folk festival. The Kiliani Volksfest is dedicated to Saint Kilian, the Irish bishop and patron saint of Würzburg, and traces back to a centuries old market tradition. Around 600,000 visitors are expected over the seventeen days, with amusement rides, stalls, beer tents and regional brass bands creating genuine Franconian festival spirit.

Program
The festival traditionally opens with a colourful costume parade through downtown Würzburg to the festival grounds. On opening night, the mayor taps the first keg of the specially brewed Kiliani festival beer, accompanied by brass music in the festival tent, followed by a large fireworks display over the Talavera. Over the following seventeen days, the Hahn family's festival tent hosts brass band matinees, party bands and Schlager evenings. Two family days offer discounted rides and stalls, plus a free children's program. Running alongside the Volksfest, the traditional Kiliani fair takes place on Würzburg's market square, with numerous vendors selling their goods. The festival closes on the final evening with another large fireworks display.
Tickets
Admission to the festival grounds is free; visitors pay directly at individual rides, stalls and in the festival tent. A litre of the Kiliani festival beer cost around 13.20 euros in 2026. Tables in the festival tent can be reserved for free in advance through the Hahn family's website; without a reservation, a large number of unreserved seats are available every evening.
Visitor Tips
- Travel by tram (line 4, Talavera stop) or bus, as no parking is available on the grounds during the festival.
- Covered bicycle parking is available right at the festival grounds.
- Take advantage of the family days for half price rides with children.
- Arrive early on weekends and popular concert nights, as the festival tent fills up quickly.
- Bring cash, as card payment is not accepted everywhere.
