Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027

Kitzbühel Tourismus has already listed the New Year period as 30 December 2026 to 1 January 2027. From 30 December, light art bathes the old town from dusk until 10:00 pm. On 31 December, glowing street acts fill Vorderstadt and Hinterstadt; previous editions featured stilt walkers and chimney sweeps among other performers. On 1 January 2027 the Town Band opens the public welcome from 3:00 pm, followed by live music, a DJ and striking light staging on temporary stages. Named acts for 2027 have not been published yet.

For sustainability reasons, the large public fireworks display and the former New Year ski show were replaced by the inner-city programme. Private hotel fireworks may still take place but are not part of the official town schedule. Watch-night and New Year church services are traditionally held at St. Andrew's Parish Church, the Franciscan monastery and the Protestant Christuskirche; confirm 2026/2027 times locally. Nightlife continues in clubs and hotel ballrooms with their own tickets and dress codes.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Kitzbuhel

• Arrive by train at Kitzbühel or Kitzbühel Hahnenkamm station, or by car via the A12 Inntal motorway and the B178. Innsbruck and Salzburg airports are each about 90 to 100 kilometres away. On New Year's Eve walk or use local transfers; the centre is busy and parking is limited.
• Expect alpine winter weather: snow, ice and temperatures often below freezing. Wear sturdy winter boots, layered clothing, hat and gloves; bring an extra layer for outdoor stages.
• Book hotels, chalets and apartments in Kitzbuhel, Kirchberg, Reith, Aurach or Jochberg as early as possible. Ask your host about the guest card or Kitzbühel RedCard for buses and lifts.
• KitzSki slopes are typically open over New Year. If you ski during the day, allow time to return to town before the evening programme.
