Welcome to the Klosterbräu Bock Beer Tapping 2026 in Bamberg

On 16 October 2026 the traditional Bockbieranstich of Brauerei Klosterbräu takes place in Bamberg. In the historic wooden and vaulted halls of the city’s oldest still-operating brewery (since 1533) the seasonal pale Bock beer is ceremonially tapped. The cosy atmosphere in the Mühlenviertel on the Regnitz river makes the evening a genuine Franconian highlight.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026

The Bock beer tapping begins on 16 October 2026 around 17:00 in the Zehntscheune and the historic rooms of Klosterbräu. After the ceremonial first pour the freshly tapped Bock flows from the barrel. The evening is accompanied by Franconian cuisine and the typical relaxed brewery atmosphere. The event continues into the late evening hours. It is a classic Franconian brewery festival without a large stage programme – the focus is entirely on the beer, tradition and good company.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Bamberg

  • The brewery is centrally located in the Mühlenviertel of the old town and easily reachable on foot or by bus. Parking in the inner old town is limited – use public transport or car parks on the edge of the historic centre.
  • Sturdy, weatherproof clothing is recommended, as mid-October can already be cool and the event takes place partly in historic, non-fully climate-controlled rooms.
  • Book accommodation in Bamberg’s old town early, as the Bock beer season and the weekend attract many visitors.
  • Anyone arriving by car should arrange a designated driver or switch to public transport and taxis – strong Bock beer requires responsibility.
  • Arrive early to secure a good seat in the Zehntscheune or the historic tavern rooms.
