Event Details

Welcome to the Klosterneuburg Harvest Festival 2026

On Friday, 28 August, and Saturday, 29 August 2026, the Stift Klosterneuburg winery opens its gates for its traditional wine estate festival. The celebration takes place on the Vinothek's parking lot and inside the Vinothek itself, right at Rathausplatz. The event centers on the approaching grape harvest, with a "toast to the vintage" as its theme. Stift Klosterneuburg has been growing wine since the year 1114, making it Austria's oldest continuously operating winery.

Highlights

  • A celebration of the coming harvest at Austria's oldest winery
  • An atmospheric cellar tour through the baroque wine cellar
  • Wine bar, sparkling wine bar, juice bar and a rarities bar with aged vintages
  • Live music and brass band performances on both days
  • Food from trucks to homemade regional pastries
  • A kids program with a bouncy castle and face painting
  • Free entry for all visitors

Program

The wine estate festival runs across two days: Friday afternoon and all of Saturday are dedicated to wine, food and a festive atmosphere. Alongside the classic wine bars, a newly staged cellar tour leads through the historic wine cellar, its walls a meter thick; the cellar stretches several levels underground and stays naturally cool year round thanks to a centuries old ventilation system. Food options include a popular burger truck, hearty grill classics prepared by the estate's own fire brigade, and homemade regional pastries. Live music and brass bands accompany both festival days, while a dedicated kids program keeps younger visitors entertained.

Tickets

Entry to the wine estate festival is free. Food and drinks are paid on site; the various bars (wine, sparkling wine, juice and rarities) offer everything from current vintages to rare aged wines from the abbey's own cellar. The event only takes place in good weather.

Visitor Tips

  • Arrive early, as popular features like the cellar tour draw large crowds.
  • Klosterneuburg is only about 15 minutes north of Vienna by car and is easy to reach by bus or train.
  • Check the abbey's website in advance if the weather looks uncertain, since the festival can be cancelled in case of rain.
  • Families may want to combine the visit with a tour of Stift Klosterneuburg itself.
  • Those with more time can pair the visit with a regular wine cellar tour including a tasting.
