Welcome to the Koblenzer Weihnachtsmarkt 2026 in Koblenz
From 20 November 2026 to 4 January 2027, the historic Altstadt of Koblenz transforms into one of the most atmospheric Christmas market destinations along the Middle Rhine. Spread across seven individually themed squares in the old town centre, over 130 exhibitors offer artisan crafts, regional specialities and seasonal goods against a backdrop of fairy-lit half-timbered houses and illuminated church facades. Admission to all market squares is free, and the city's unique position at the confluence of the Moselle and Rhine rivers makes it one of the most visited Christmas market destinations in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Programme and Schedule: What to Expect at Koblenzer Weihnachtsmarkt 2026
The Koblenzer Weihnachtsmarkt 2026 is open Monday to Wednesday from 10:00 to 20:00, Thursday to Saturday from 10:00 to 21:00 and Sunday from 11:00 to 20:00. All squares are closed on Totensonntag (22 November 2026). The markets at Jesuitenplatz and Liebfrauenkirche run until 22 December, while the remaining squares stay open until 4 January 2027, making Koblenz one of the few German cities where the Christmas market experience extends well beyond Christmas Day.
Jesuitenplatz Christmas Market Koblenz 2026
The main market square, surrounded by historic half-timbered buildings, is the heart of the Koblenz Christmas market. Traditional Christmas goods dominate here: ornate tree decorations, candle arches, Christmas pyramids, nutcrackers, smokers, Stollen, honey and Herrnhut stars. The city's largest Advent calendar glows in the 24 dormer windows of the baroque town hall. Near the Citykirche stands the charity house, where local clubs rotate daily to sell handmade items in support of good causes.
Münzplatz Christmas Market Koblenz 2026
The largest and busiest individual square, Münzplatz is where the market's energy peaks. The historic Christmas mill and the Münz barn are popular meeting points for visitors of all ages. Culinary highlights include apple pancakes, Baumstriezel, vegetarian vegetable skillet, fresh potato chips and Flammlachs. Special gifts such as fine leather goods, handcrafted glass items, liqueurs and olive wood products are also on offer alongside the children's carousel.
Am Plan Christmas Market Koblenz 2026
The original location of the Koblenz Christmas market, running for over 40 years, Am Plan is anchored by a large Christmas pyramid with cosy seating booths underneath. On weekends, a saxophonist performs Christmas music live. The stalls offer Indian scarves, decorative items, dog treats and more. The children's carousel and the surrounding Koblenz gastronomy make this a natural gathering point for families and evening visitors.
Görresplatz Christmas Market Koblenz 2026
The youngest of the seven squares, added to the Koblenz Christmas market in 2017, Görresplatz is the most family-friendly location. A miniature train circles the festively illuminated historic column through a small Christmas forest. Regional vintner mulled wines, woollen goods, decorative items and olive wood products are available, and the heated seating huts are ideal for longer, relaxed stays even in cold weather.
Willi-Hörter-Platz / Rathaushof Christmas Market Koblenz 2026
At the entrance to Koblenz's historic town hall, the festively lit SchaEngelbar offers a wide selection of white and red wine mulled wines alongside roasted almonds and sweets. Through the entrance behind it, the town hall courtyard provides a contemplative escape from the bustle, with an atmospheric nativity scene set up amidst gentle lighting.
Zentralplatz Christmas Market Koblenz 2026
Located beside the Forum Confluentes shopping centre, Zentralplatz combines a Christmas market stop with a gift-buying trip. A 70-year-old historic wooden Ferris wheel turns slowly between blue and red huts. Two illuminated Christmas trees, one natural and one a futuristic metal construction, dominate the square. Crêpes, handmade knitwear, Christmas tablecloths and fine glass items are the specialities here.
Liebfrauenkirche Christmas Market Koblenz 2026
The smallest and most intimate of the seven squares sits in the shadow of the onion-domed towers of the Liebfrauenkirche. Local artisans craft gifts from wood and mammoth ivory here, and on weekends local artist Manfred Gniffke and his son Michael entertain visitors with the Christmas story and carols in the Koblenz dialect. The Feuerzangenbowle is the square's signature drink, and Santa Claus makes weekend appearances for the youngest visitors.

- Note Totensonntag: All market squares are closed on 22 November 2026. Visitors planning to travel shortly after the market opens should account for this date when booking.
- Combine market and Fortress: The classic Koblenz Advent day is a daytime stroll through the old town squares followed by an evening visit to the Christmas Garden light installation at Ehrenbreitstein, reached by cable car from the Deutsches Eck.
