Session Motto 2027

The 2027 session motto is "Morje es, wat do drus mähs!" ("Tomorrow is what you make of it"). Announced at the end of the 2026 Rose Monday Parade, the motto calls on every person not just to complain about the challenges of our time but to take responsibility and act. The Festkomitee Kölner Karneval chose this message to encourage optimism, community spirit and active participation in shaping the future.

Parade Route

The parade sets off at 10:00 AM from Chlodwigplatz in the Südstadt. It passes through Severinstraße, Hohe Straße, Schildergasse and Neumarkt, continues along Hohenzollernring and Friesenplatz, and winds through the city centre via Zeughausstraße to Heumarkt, Alter Markt and past Cologne Cathedral before ending at Gregorius-Maurus-Straße. The total route length is 8.5 kilometres. The front of the parade reaches the finish line at around 1:45 PM, though the final floats and groups take considerably longer to complete the route.

Parade by Numbers

  • Around 12,000 participants
  • 8.5 kilometres through Cologne city centre
  • Over 300 tonnes of sweets and 300,000 small flower bouquets distributed
  • More than 20 satirical floats

Grandstands and Tickets

Watching the Rose Monday Parade along the route is completely free of charge. For a more comfortable viewing experience, grandstand tickets are available from the Festkomitee Kölner Karneval. Grandstands are positioned directly along the parade route and offer elevated, premium views of the floats and performers. Companies and groups can also rent lorry platforms along the route for a private viewing experience. Grandstand ticket sales typically open several months in advance. Signing up to the Festkomitee newsletter is the best way to be notified when tickets go on sale.
