Welcome to the Koncepti Festival 2027 in Kragujevac

The International Festival of Chamber Choirs and Vocal Ensembles “Koncepti” takes place from 15 to 19 August 2027 in Kragujevac, Serbia. Organised by the Music Centre Kragujevac (Muzički centar Kragujevac), it is a well-established European choral event held biennially in odd-numbered years — 2025 was the 16th edition; 2027 will be the 17th. Founded in 1995, the festival is recognised by the European Festivals Association (EFFE). There is no 2026 edition.

Highlights & Attractions at Koncepti Festival in Kragujevac

  • International chamber choirs and vocal ensembles each present a full-evening, dramaturgically coherent programme concept of about one hour.
  • Focus on new ideas for the design and dramaturgy of concerts — from pure choral singing to choral-theatrical and multimedia forms.
  • Old and new repertoire are treated equally; group singing remains central even in experimental formats.
  • Alongside the main programme: ateliers, forums, seminars, round tables, and visits to cultural, historical and natural sites in and around Kragujevac.
  • Several venues across the city — including halls of the First and Second Grammar Schools of Kragujevac and other cultural spaces; some concerts may take place in nearby towns.
  • Free public admission in the 2025 edition; a similar arrangement is typical for 2027, but check the organiser’s latest information.
  • For participating ensembles: no participation fee; the organiser covers accommodation, breakfast and one daytime meal (ensemble application deadline: 28 February 2027).

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027

The detailed 2027 programme will be published closer to the dates. Evening concerts typically start around 20:00 or 21:00 at rotating venues in Kragujevac. Each ensemble presents its own self-contained concept — thematic, stylistic or multimedia. Previous editions featured choirs and ensembles from Serbia and many European countries. Workshops, professional discussions and joint working formats complete the offer. Exact schedules, venues and times will appear in due course on muzickicentar.rs.

Tickets & Admission for Koncepti Festival Kragujevac

In 2025, admission to all programme events was free for the public. A similar policy is likely for 2027 but has not yet been stated explicitly — confirm on the Music Centre Kragujevac website closer to the festival. There are no standard commercial ticket tiers as at large popular-music festivals. Ensemble participation is free of charge; selection follows application (deadline 28 February 2027, results by 31 March 2027). Contact and updates: muzickicentar.rs or phone +381 34 334-264.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Kragujevac

  • Getting there: Kragujevac is in central Serbia (Šumadija), reachable by bus or train from Belgrade (about 1.5–2 hours) and other Serbian cities. The nearest major airport is Belgrade (BEG). Concert venues in the city centre are walkable or served by local buses.
  • Weather and clothing: Mid-August in Kragujevac is typically warm; evenings are milder. Light clothing by day and slightly more formal attire for concerts in historic halls work well.
  • Where to stay: Book hotels and guesthouses in the centre early, as the festival draws international guests. The organiser houses participating ensembles; visitors arrange their own stays.
  • Track the venues: The programme spreads across several addresses (including Daničićeva 1 – First Grammar School; Liceja Kneževine Srbije 2 – Second Grammar School). Check the day’s schedule on the day of each concert.
  • City and surroundings: Use free time for the historic centre, museums and short trips in the Kragujevac area — the organiser often offers guided visits for participants.
