New Year in Kotor sits inside a broader winter season in the Old Town. In recent editions, 31 December combined a daytime matinee on Gradska Riva with the main evening from around 19:00 on Trg od Oružja: regional pop and rock acts, DJ sets and midnight fireworks across the walls and the bay. 1 January often brought a second headline concert on the same square. The confirmed line-up for New Year's Eve 2026/2027 had not been released as of late August 2026; names, stage times and extra dates will appear on kotor.travel.

Expect festive lights, restaurants in the stone lanes and, depending on the season programme, children's events, holiday stalls and further concerts through December and January. Hotels and restaurants run separate paid New Year dinners; those are not part of the free square programme and should be booked early.

The main open-air concerts on Trg od Oružja and Gradska Riva have been free of charge in documented recent years. There is no required ticket for the public square celebration. • The closest airport is Tivat (TIV), about 15 minutes away; Podgorica (TGD) and Dubrovnik (DBV) are alternatives. Cars cannot enter the Old Town – park outside and walk in through the Sea Gate.
• Late December and early January typically bring daytime temperatures around 8–14 °C, cooler nights and frequent rain. Pack layers, waterproof shoes for the cobblestones and a rain jacket.
• Stay inside the Old Town or with a Bay of Kotor view for short walks to Trg od Oružja. Reserve 31 December 2026 rooms as early as possible.
• The city walls and higher points above the Old Town often give a clearer view of the fireworks than the crowded square; arrive early to pick a spot.
