Welcome to the Kronacher Freischießen 2027 in Kronach
The 438th Kronacher Freischießen 2027 takes place from 12 to 22 August on the Hofwiese at the Schützenhaus in Kronach. Held since 1588, this marksmen’s and folk festival of the Schützengesellschaft Kronach is known as the “fifth season” in the Frankenwald and draws around 300,000 visitors. Eleven festival days combine historic shooting contests, brass music, permanent beer halls and a large funfair in the Lucas Cranach town.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027
Kronacher Freischießen 2027 lasts eleven days and traditionally ends on the penultimate Sunday in August. The grounds usually open at 1:30 p.m. on weekdays and at 11:00 a.m. on Sundays and public holidays. Closing time is typically 12:30 a.m., and often 1:30 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (last drinks half an hour earlier). The detailed 2027 daily programme will be published closer to the festival on the official website.
Regular highlights include the beer tapping on opening Thursday in the Kaiserhofhalle, the marksmen’s procession on the first festival Sunday, the children’s parade on a weekday, fireworks and the proclamation on the final day. Shooting competitions run in several disciplines. Military and brass bands shape the pavilion programme, while the halls host entertainment music.
Tickets & Admission for Kronacher Freischießen Kronach
Admission to the Kronacher Freischießen festival grounds is free. There are no entry tickets for the folk festival itself. Costs apply for food, drinks, rides and shooting participation. The 2027 beer price (Maß) had not been announced at the time of writing; in 2026 a Maß cost 11.20 Euro. Beer tokens are usually sold in advance at the Schützenhaus.
