Welcome to the Laetare de Stavelot 2027 in Belgium
From March 6 to 8, 2027, the small town of Stavelot in the Belgian Ardennes becomes the centre of one of the oldest and best known carnivals in Wallonia. The Laetare de Stavelot dates back to 1502 and draws tens of thousands of visitors each year for the legendary Blancs Moussis, who parade the streets in white hooded robes with their trademark long red nose.

Program and Schedule: What to Expect in Stavelot
Festivities open on Saturday evening with the opening ceremony and ball at the Abbey, followed by the night parade. Sunday brings speeches, a festive gathering in the Abbey cellars and, in the early afternoon, the grand Laetare parade with the Blancs Moussis rondeau on Place Saint Remacle. Monday is reserved for the individual Stavelot societies and the award ceremony at the Abbey.
Tickets and Admission for the Laetare de Stavelot
The parades, the Blancs Moussis rondeau and the fireworks are free to attend for all visitors. A separate entry fee may apply for the official ball in the heated marquee at the Abbey, with exact prices published closer to the date on the official website.
Visitor Tips: Travel and Accommodation in Stavelot
- Stavelot sits in the Ardennes, so most visitors arrive by car via the N62 or N68, since train connections are limited
- Early March can still be cold in the Ardennes, so warm clothing is strongly recommended
- Given the large number of visitors, accommodation in and around Stavelot should be booked well ahead
- For the Sunday afternoon parade, arriving early to secure a spot along the route near Place Saint Remacle is worthwhile
