Welcome to Le Infiorate di Spello 2027
At the end of May 2027, the medieval streets of the Umbrian town of Spello will once again be transformed into a giant, fragrant work of art. Le Infiorate di Spello is one of Italy's most famous flower festivals, traditionally taking place on the occasion of Corpus Christi (Corpus Domini). Thousands of locals work year-round to prepare for this unique flower carpet competition, which captivates visitors from all over the world.

Program
The festival culminates on the weekend of May 29 to May 30, 2027. Saturday is dedicated entirely to preparation. From the afternoon and throughout the night into Sunday (La Notte dei Fiori), visitors can watch the teams (Infioratori) carefully place millions of petals to create intricate patterns and religious motifs. By 8:00 AM on Sunday morning, the artworks must be finished. Following an evaluation by a jury, the traditional Corpus Domini procession takes place late morning, where the Bishop literally walks over the flower carpets – a fleeting work of art that loses its pristine state right after.
Tickets
Access to the streets of Spello to view the flower carpets is a free experience (€0.00). However, designated parking areas outside the city walls and shuttle services provided by the municipality for the event weekend usually require a small fee.
Safety & Rules
- The floral artworks must never be touched or stepped on by visitors (only by the clergy during the official procession).
- The streets of Spello are narrow; expect very large crowds, especially on Sunday morning.
- Please follow the designated one-way pedestrian routes to facilitate movement through the alleys.
- Bringing dogs is highly discouraged due to the dense crowds and fragile floral displays.
Visitor Tips
- Night owls win: Visit Spello late Saturday evening or during the night to experience the magical atmosphere of artists at work without the massive daytime crowds.
- If you come on Sunday, arrive well before 8:00 AM, before the streets become completely packed and the procession begins.
- Use the designated large special parking areas below the town; convenient shuttles will take you to the historic center.
- Wear comfortable walking shoes, as the historic center has steep, cobblestone streets.
- Bring a camera – the morning sunlight makes the colors of the petals glow exceptionally bright!
