Welcome to the Leoben Christmas Market 2026 on the Main Square
From November 27 to December 23, 2026, the historic main square of Leoben in Styria turns into a festively lit Christmas village. As the central Advent market of Styria's second largest city, the Leoben Christmas Market is one of the best known Advent events in the Hochsteiermark region and draws visitors from across Upper Styria. The official opening takes place on Thursday, November 26, at 17:00.

Program and Schedule: What to Expect in Leoben
The market is open daily, though hours vary by weekday: Monday to Thursday from 10:00 to 21:00, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 to 22:00, and Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00. Throughout the Advent season, a changing program on the Advent stage keeps things lively, including school music performances, tower brass playing, a children's Advent walk with the Christ Child, and the arrival of Saint Nicholas and the Krampus figures. No other major Advent market within the city of Leoben itself
The Leoben Christmas Market on the main square is the only large, central Advent market within the city of Leoben and forms the heart of what is known as the Adventstadt Leoben. In the surrounding district, smaller local Advent markets do open in neighboring municipalities such as Trofaiach, Kalwang or Niklasdorf in the weeks before, but these take place outside Leoben itself and are considerably smaller in scale.
Visitor Tips: Travel and Accommodation in Leoben
- Leoben is a major rail hub well connected to the national train network, and the main square is about a ten minute walk from the station
- By car, the Leoben West or Leoben Ost exits are recommended, from where the city center is about ten minutes away
- Cold temperatures are common in Upper Styria in late November and December, so warm clothing is advisable
- Since the market runs until just before Christmas, accommodation in Leoben should be booked early, especially for weekends
