Welcome to the Libori 2027 in Paderborn

Libori 2027 turns Paderborn into its “fifth season” from 24 July to 1 August. For nine days, religious celebrations for Saint Liborius, a 1.6-kilometre fairground mile on Liboriberg and a full cultural programme come together as one of Germany’s oldest and largest folk festivals. Around 1.4 to 1.8 million visitors fill the historic centre between Domplatz, Rathausplatz, Liboriberg and Westerntor.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027

Libori always starts on the first Saturday after 23 July. In 2027 that means Saturday 24 July to Sunday 1 August. On opening Saturday the church bells ring around 2:00 p.m. At 3:00 p.m. a pontifical vespers in the cathedral raises the relics and the Libori fanfare is played. The civic opening follows in the afternoon in front of the historic town hall, with the mayor, three salute shots and the tapping of the beer barrel. The fairground on Liboriberg opens from 2:00 p.m. on the first Saturday and typically from 11:00 a.m. to midnight on the other days.

The first Sunday centres on the pontifical mass and the shrine procession. Across the week come further services, concerts, street art, a children’s and youth day, a showmen’s mass and late-night parties. The last Sunday usually includes late-opening shops in the afternoon and a high fireworks display from the Leokonvikt garden. Tickets & Admission for Libori Paderborn

Entry to Libori, the fairground and the public squares is free. Rides, food and drinks are paid at the stalls; 2027 ride prices are only confirmed shortly before the festival. For public transport, PaderSprinter usually offers a transferable Libori week ticket for the whole city (around EUR 27–30 in recent years) plus discounted 90-minute Libori tickets. Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Paderborn

• Arrive by train and bus: Paderborn main station is a walk from the centre; PaderSprinter increases services during the festival and runs night buses.
• Pack summer clothes and comfortable shoes: the event is outdoors, evenings can cool down, and the fairground mile is long and crowded.
• Book hotels and guesthouses in the city centre early – Libori week is very busy.
• Leave the car outside town: Liboriberg and large parts of the centre are closed to traffic. Park+Ride at Heinz-Nixdorf-Ring (Almepark) with a shuttle to Westerntor is the easier option.
• Daytime is better for families; the closing fireworks are easiest to watch from Liboriberg and the Pader springs area.
