Welcome to the Lisbon Marathon 2026
On 10 and 11 October 2026, Lisbon turns into one big running weekend. The EDP Lisbon Marathon is considered one of the most scenic marathons in the world, with a course that runs almost entirely along the sea and the Tagus River. While the marathon itself starts on Saturday in Carcavelos (near Cascais), the half marathon and mini races begin on Sunday on the striking Vasco da Gama Bridge.

Program
The marathon starts on Saturday, 10 October 2026, in Carcavelos and follows the coastal road (Estrada Marginal) through Oeiras and Estoril before continuing along the Tagus into the historic center of Lisbon; the finish is at Praça do Comércio. On Sunday, 11 October, the half marathon and mini races start together at 9:20 AM on the Vasco da Gama Bridge; the 21 kilometer half marathon course takes runners from the north of the city past well known historical landmarks into downtown Lisbon, while the mini race finishes at Parque das Nações. Access to the start line on the bridge is only possible via the organizer's free shuttle buses.
Registration
Entry fees rise with the number of registrations. For the marathon, the first 2,000 spots cost 70 euros, the next tier 95 euros, and from 5,001 registrations onward 130 euros (plus a processing fee). Half marathon fees are 35, 55 or 70 euros depending on when you register. The EDP 8K has a flat fee of 30 euros. Race packets are handed out on 8 and 9 October at the Sport Expo inside FIL (Feira Internacional de Lisboa).
Visitor Tips
- Travel to Carcavelos by train from Cais do Sodré; your bib number gives you free travel on race day.
- Only use the official shuttle buses from Avenida D. João II to reach the start on the Vasco da Gama Bridge.
- Arrive early, as streets are closed to traffic and cut off times are strictly enforced.
- Book hotels in Lisbon and Cascais well ahead, as the weekend is in high demand.
- Bring warm clothing for the early morning hours by the sea.
