Welcome to the Lullusfest Bad Hersfeld 2026 in Bad Hersfeld
The Lullusfest in Bad Hersfeld is considered Germany’s oldest folk festival and has been celebrated since 852 in honour of the city’s founder, Archbishop Lullus. From 12 to 19 October 2026 the town centre around the market square transforms into a lively festival area with the traditional Lullus fire, a large parade, fairground rides and a varied programme for the whole family.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The Lullusfest 2026 starts on Monday 12 October with the ceremonial lighting of the Lullus fire at 12:00 on the market square, followed by the traditional parade at 12:05. Throughout the week there are rides, live music, children’s attractions and culinary offerings. Highlights include the Lullus flea market on Wednesday, various stage programmes and the torchlight procession with ceremony in the abbey ruins. The festival ends on 19 October.
