Welcome to Lux Helsinki 2027 in Helsinki
From December 30, 2026 to January 6, 2027, the centre of Helsinki around Senate Square turns into a walkable gallery of light. For the first time, the festival begins before New Year's Eve, letting locals and visitors ring in the new year surrounded by light art.

Program and Schedule: What to Expect in 2027
Across eight evenings, the installations illuminate the city each night between 17:00 and 22:00. The full 2027 program will be announced toward the end of 2026, but traditionally Senate Square, with the cathedral as its main canvas, forms the heart of the festival, while the route extends from there to Hietalahti Market Square and nearby parks and squares.

Lux Helsinki is completely free and open without any ticket. All installations in the city centre can be visited freely, though a few works outside downtown, such as at the zoo, may follow separate opening hours.

- Warm winter clothing, sturdy footwear and grip suited for icy pavements are recommended given the cold January temperatures
