Welcome to the Maallust Bockfestival 2026 in Veenhuizen
Maallust Bockfestival 2026 takes place on 3–4 October at Bierbrouwerij Maallust in Veenhuizen, in the Dutch province of Drenthe. Set in a former grain mill in the historic prison village, the festival focuses on dark bock beers, autumn food and live music. Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026
The brewery lists the Bockfestival for 3–4 October 2026 (first weekend of October). Tourism and beer calendars typically give hours of 14:00–21:00, in line with other Maallust festivals. Expect rich, malty bock beers with caramel and roasted-malt notes – including Maallust’s own Veldwachter bock – plus other autumn seasonals. Live music, street food, robust autumn dishes and loaded platters complete the day. One corner of the site becomes a German-style beer garden again.

Entry is ticketed, not free. Beer-event listings quote EUR 13.25 (published list price; some earlier Maallust festivals also offered cheaper early-bird tickets). Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Veenhuizen
- Travel: Veenhuizen is in rural Drenthe. By car via regional roads; by public transport usually via Assen. The optional festival shuttle is the easiest option without a car.
- Weather: Early October in Drenthe is often cool, windy and wet – wear sturdy shoes, a warm jacket and bring rain protection.
- Stay: Book early in Veenhuizen, Norg, Roden or Assen; the village is small and fills up on festival weekends.
- The site sits in the historic prison village (Colonies of Benevolence). Allow time for a walk through Veenhuizen.
- Drink responsibly. The return shuttle is the safer choice after a day of bock beer.
Maallust Bockfestival 2026 at the prison-village brewery in Veenhuizen
Bierbrouwerij Maallust has brewed on this industrial heritage site since 2011. The Bockfestival is the autumn counterpart to the spring Lentefestival: dark beers, live music and a beer garden against a former mill and prison-village backdrop. Veldwachter bock, guest brewers and food from Maallust and Kaaslust make this the main bock-beer weekend in the northern Netherlands.
