- Free admission: the festival is run by the City of Maia and is open to the public at no charge.
- Focus on blues and related styles – soul, rhythm & blues, boogie-woogie and bluegrass – with Portuguese and international artists.
- Venue: the outdoor auditorium of Fórum da Maia (Rua Eng. Duarte Pacheco 131), an intimate open-air space in the city centre, easily reached by metro (Fórum Maia station, Line C).

- Pre-festival music workshops: multi-day Combo/Blues sessions for participants aged 14+ with their own instrument; registration via the municipal culture department.
- Relaxed atmosphere with a street-food area in past editions and an indoor backup in the Grande Auditório if the weather turns bad.
Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2027
The 2027 line-up is not yet public. The usual format is three days with two concerts per day: often Friday and Saturday around 18:30 and 21:30, and an earlier Sunday slot (for example 17:00 and 18:00). The bill typically mixes established international blues and bluegrass acts with Portuguese bands and the closing set by the Maia Blues Fest Band.
Production and programming are usually handled by Trovas Soltas on behalf of the municipality. Day-by-day schedules and artist announcements appear on the Câmara Municipal da Maia website in the months before the festival. In poor weather, concerts may move to the same times in the covered Grande Auditório of Fórum da Maia.
