Welcome to the New Year's Eve 2026/2027 in Megève
Megève, in the French Alps, marks the 2026/2027 New Year in the historic village centre. The public celebration gathers on Place du Village beside the church, traditionally from about 18:00 on 31 December into the first hours of 1 January. The full 2026/2027 stage line-up had not been published in early September 2026, but ESF Megève has already announced its torchlight descent for Thursday 31 December 2026.

Program & Schedule: What to Expect in 2026/2027
The public evening usually follows a familiar rhythm. From late afternoon the square fills. Music often starts around 18:00. Between about 18:30 and 19:30 torchlight descents reach Place du Village. Live sets then continue, typically until around 01:00. For 2025 the published names included DJ Théo Charroy with Ismaël Kuide on saxophone and Cyrille Chambard on percussion; whether the same artists return in 2026/2027 was not confirmed in September 2026. Check the Megève Tourisme agenda shortly before you travel.
Alongside the free square party, addresses such as Four Seasons Megève, Grand Hôtel Soleil d’Or and L’Arboisie host private New Year’s dinners and midnight countdowns. Four Seasons noted in August 2026 that its 2026 festive experiences were still to be confirmed. Some visitor guides mention fireworks above the village centre, visible from the church square; an official 2026/2027 pyrotechnic schedule was not listed on the tourism site at the time of research. Expect snow, sub-zero temperatures and a largely pedestrian village core.
Tickets & Admission for New Year's Eve Megève
The public New Year’s Eve on Place du Village is traditionally free; no ticket is required for the square. Hot drinks are often handed out but supplies can run out. Paid options are separate: hotel réveillon menus in 2025 were typically around 350 to 400 euros per person for multi-course dinners (for example at Soleil d’Or). Those figures are a guide only and do not automatically apply to 2026/2027. Unusual formats such as a yurt dinner after a short snowshoe walk have been offered in past winters and must be booked with the operator. Ski passes for Évasion Mont-Blanc are independent of the New Year’s Eve party and are sold via forfait.megeve.com. Always confirm final details with megeve-tourisme.fr and your hotel.
Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Megève
- Travel: The nearest major airport is Geneva (GVA), about 70 to 80 kilometres and roughly 1 hour 15 minutes by transfer. By train, travel to Sallanches-Combloux-Megève, then continue by bus or taxi. The village centre is largely pedestrian; use the ski bus and edge-of-town parking.
- Weather and clothing: An Alpine New Year’s night is often well below freezing, with wind and snow. Wear layers, waterproof boots with grip, a hat, gloves and carry a small torch for the walk back.
- Stay: Chalets and hotels sell out early for the turn of the year. Book months ahead, especially around Place du Village, Mont d’Arbois and Rochebrune. Many properties require a minimum stay and prepayment for 31 December.
- Reserve restaurant tables for New Year’s Eve well in advance; without a hotel gala, free tables after 21:00 are limited.
- Arrive early for the torchlight descent and midnight. Recheck the official calendar on Megève Tourisme and ESF at megeve-ski.com in December 2026, as artists and timings can still be adjusted.
