What is the MI AMI Festival in Milan?
The MI AMI Festival (short for "Musica Importante A Milano") has been the leading spring festival for Italy's independent music scene since 2005. Organized by the music platform Rockit, it traditionally takes place on the last weekend of May at the Idroscalo di Milano, a large park with an artificial lake on the edge of the city. What sets it apart: the lineup features exclusively Italian artists across indie, pop, electronic and alternative genres, with no international acts. For 2027, the organizer has not yet officially confirmed the dates; the 20th anniversary edition in 2026 ran from 21 to 24 May.
When does the MI AMI Festival 2027 take place?
The exact 2027 dates are currently TBA (not yet officially announced). Based on past years, Rockit usually reveals the dates in winter or early spring, with the festival traditionally held over the last weekend of May across three to four days. This page will be updated as soon as the official dates are published.
Where does the MI AMI Festival take place?
The festival is held at the Idroscalo di Milano, specifically at the Porta Maggiore entrance. The park sits between the municipalities of Segrate and Peschiera Borromeo, right next to Milan Linate Airport. Multiple stages are spread across the grounds; in 2026 there were five stages between the main Idroscalo area and the adjacent Circolo Magnolia.
How do you get to the MI AMI Festival?
The easiest way to reach the festival is via metro line M4 (blue line) to the Linate Aeroporto terminus, followed by roughly a 15 minute walk along a combined bike and pedestrian path. Bus lines 73, 183 and 923, as well as regional trains S5 and S6, are also an option. Visitors arriving by car will find paid parking directly at the park; arriving early is recommended on festival days.
