Milan Design Week 2027: The World's Biggest Design Event
From 12 to 18 April 2027, Milan once again becomes the global capital of design. At the heart of the week is the 65th edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano, running from 13 to 18 April 2027 at Fiera Milano Rho. Running alongside the fair, Fuorisalone transforms the entire city with hundreds of installations, exhibitions and events across showrooms, historic palazzi and public spaces. Milan Design Week is widely regarded as the world's most important design event, drawing more than 300,000 trade visitors and design enthusiasts from over 150 countries every year.
Salone del Mobile 2027: The 65th Edition
The Salone del Mobile.Milano is the world's leading international furniture and design fair. The 65th edition takes place under the presidency of Maria Porro and General Manager Marco Sabetta. Across more than 200,000 square metres of exhibition space at Rho Fiera, the fair presents the foremost Italian and international companies in furniture, kitchens, bathrooms, lighting and office solutions.
The landmark innovation of the 2027 edition is Salone Contract: a brand-new section dedicated to contract furniture and interiors, with its masterplan designed by the globally acclaimed architecture studio OMA under Rem Koolhaas and David Gianotten. Salone Contract 2027 aims to create concrete new opportunities for growth and sustainability within the design and manufacturing industry and is considered the most significant structural shake-up of the fair in years.
Fuorisalone 2027: Design Across the City
Fuorisalone 2027 runs from 12 to 18 April, encompassing hundreds of official events spread across Milan's key design districts. Entry is free in most cases. The main districts to explore are:
- Brera Design District: The historic heartland of Fuorisalone, with 217 permanent showrooms, galleries and courtyard installations.
- Zona Tortona: Industrial spaces along Via Savona hosting major brands and large-scale headline installations.
- 5VIE: The area around Corso Magenta and Sant'Ambrogio, focused on collectible and authorial design in historic palazzi.
- Porta Venezia: A growing design district with a vibrant, youthful atmosphere and emerging labels.
- Porta Nuova and Isola: Modern urban development meets experimental design installations.
SaloneSatellite 2027
Inside the fair itself, SaloneSatellite, founded and curated by Marva Griffin Wilshire, gives a platform to international designers under 35 and is considered the most important launchpad for new global design talent. Applications for the 2027 edition were open until 30 August 2026.

Visitor Tips
- Plan the Salone del Mobile and Fuorisalone on separate days; combining both in a single day leads to fatigue and missed highlights.
- Allocate a full day for the fair; the halls are extensive and require significant walking.
- For Fuorisalone, anchor each day around one key installation or exhibition and explore the surrounding area spontaneously.
- Download the official Fuorisalone app and interactive city map before you arrive.
- Wear comfortable shoes; the distances involved consistently exceed expectations.
- Eat slightly earlier than usual to avoid peak congestion in Brera and Tortona.
- Book accommodation several months in advance; prices rise sharply during Design Week.
- Consider renting a car at the airport and combining the visit with a broader Milan trip.
