Welcome to the Medieval Festival at Vianden Castle 2026
From 25 July to 2 August 2026, Vianden Castle in Luxembourg transforms into a living stage of the Middle Ages. The 24th edition of the Medieval Festival is the largest medieval spectacle in Luxembourg and the Greater Region. Over nine days, more than 100 participants fill the entire castle grounds with medieval life, immersing visitors of all ages in a bygone era.

Program
Every day from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM (last admission 6:00 PM), the entire Vianden Castle comes alive to the rhythm of the Middle Ages. Knights clash in spectacular combat displays, fire performers dazzle the crowds, and jugglers entertain young and old alike. Craftspeople demonstrate historical trades while minstrels play authentic medieval melodies. The medieval market invites visitors to browse handcrafted goods, watch calligraphy demonstrations and taste typical dishes from historical cuisine. The festival is ideal for families, children and history enthusiasts alike.
Tickets & Prices
All prices include a €1 tourist tax for the municipality of Vianden. Please note that the Luxembourg Card is not valid during the Medieval Festival.

Getting There
Vianden is located in northern Luxembourg, easily reachable by car via Diekirch and Ettelbrück. Those travelling by public transport can take a connection from Luxembourg City towards Ettelbrück or Diekirch and then continue to Vianden. A free shuttle bus operates on both weekends of the festival, making access to the hilltop castle easy and convenient.
Visitor Tips
- Arrive early, especially on weekends, as the castle grounds fill up quickly.
- Use the free weekend shuttle bus as parking space near the castle is limited.
- Wear comfortable footwear: the castle sits on a hill and many paths are cobblestoned.
- Medieval costumes and period clothing are welcome and add to the atmosphere.
- Book accommodation well in advance as Vianden is a small town with limited capacity.
- Children aged 0 to 5 enter free of charge.
