Welcome to the Esslingen Medieval Market and Christmas Market 2026
During Advent, the clocks in the medieval old town of Esslingen am Neckar are symbolically turned back 600 years. From 24 November to 22 December 2026, traders in historical costumes sell their wares at more than 180 stalls; set against the stunning half timbered backdrop of the old town, the Esslingen Medieval Market ranks among the ten most attractive Christmas markets in the German speaking world. Around one million visitors from Germany, Switzerland, Italy, England, Spain, France and overseas travel to Esslingen each year for a journey back in time to the Middle Ages.

Program
At the Esslingen Medieval Market, craftspeople from various guilds celebrate age old handicrafts that visitors can touch and try for themselves. Fire shows, musicians and playful jesters bring the narrow lanes of the old town to life every day; alongside it, the classic Christmas market invites visitors to stroll among festive stalls, handicrafts and treats. The market opens daily, with a few exceptions on individual holidays according to the organizer's calendar; opening hours are extended on weekends.

- Visit on a weekday, as the market gets very busy on weekends and in the final week before Christmas.

- On Fridays and Saturdays the market stays open until 9:30 PM, on other days until 8:30 PM.
