Welcome to the Münster Christmas Markets 2026

From November 23 to December 23, 2026, the historic old town of Münster turns into a glowing winter wonderland. Around the Prinzipalmarkt, with its rebuilt gabled merchant houses, six separate Christmas markets open their gates, all within easy walking distance of each other.

Highlights and Attractions at the Münster Christmas Markets

  • The large market around the gothic town hall and Prinzipalmarkt with around 90 stalls and golden lighting
  • The Lichtermarkt at the church square of St. Lamberti with arts, crafts and fine food
  • Further markets at Aegidiimarkt, Am Kiepenkerl, Harsewinkelplatz and near the Überwasserkirche
  • A nostalgic children's carousel at the largest market in the town hall courtyard
  • Mulled wine, roasted almonds and regional specialities served beneath the historic arcades
  • Concerts, exhibitions and a reflective church program throughout the Advent season
  • Guided Advent walks that share stories and traditions from Münster's history

Visitor Tips: Travel and Accommodation in Münster

  • Arriving by train to Münster main station is convenient, as it is only a short walk from there to the Prinzipalmarkt
  • Visitors arriving by car should use a park and ride option due to limited parking in the city centre
  • Warm clothing and comfortable shoes are worth packing for long strolls between the six markets
  • Hotels in the old town fill up quickly on Advent weekends, so early booking is recommended
  • An evening visit is especially rewarding, when the golden lighting along the Prinzipalmarkt looks its best
