Welcome to Museumsuferfest Frankfurt 2026
From Friday, 28 August to Sunday, 30 August 2026, both banks of the Main river transform into Frankfurt's biggest open-air cultural festival. The Museumsuferfest attracts around one million visitors each year, making it one of the largest cultural festivals in Europe. For three days, art, music, food and festival atmosphere combine in front of Frankfurt's stunning skyline.

Stages 2026
More than 12 stages along the riverbanks present music across all genres: the Feinstaub stage, Frankfurter Musikbühne, Journal Frankfurt stage, KULT-Net stage, Latino-Treff, Regenbogen Area, Rheinland-Pfalz wine stage, Son Taino stage and WE LOVE FRANKFURT stage. The festival highlight of 2026 is the special Batschkapp stage, celebrating five decades of Frankfurt music history.
Museums & Program
All participating museums offer exclusive guided tours, exhibitions and workshops throughout the festival weekend. The Museum für Kommunikation provides children's theatre, face painting and creative workshops for families. The Institut für Stadtgeschichte hosts guided tours and concerts in the historic Karmeliterkloster. The art meadow on the Sachsenhausen bank and the crafts market showcase sculptures, paintings and high-quality handmade work. The weekend's grand finale is the spectacular fireworks display on Sunday at 10:00 PM, set to music between Holbeinsteg and Untermainbrücke.
Admission & Museum Button
Entry to the festival grounds is free of charge. Access to all participating museums requires the Museumsuferfest Button, priced at €7.00 for all three days. The button is available at the entrances of all participating museums, at the Tourist Information FrankfurtRheinMain info tent on the north bank near Eiserner Steg, and at the Tourist Information offices at Römer and Neue Altstadt. Each button carries a unique serial number and automatically enters the holder into a prize draw.
Visitor Tips
- Travel by S-Bahn from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof or by U-Bahn to Schweizer Platz, Theaterplatz or Willy-Brandt-Platz; the riverbanks are closed to traffic during the festival.
- Friday's program begins at 3:00 PM – arriving early means fewer crowds and more time to explore the museums.
- The best spots for the Sunday fireworks at 10:00 PM are Untermainbrücke and the Eiserner Steg promenade.
- Buy the museum button in advance at a Tourist Information office to avoid queues at museum entrances.
- The children's program at the Museum für Kommunikation fills up quickly; plan to arrive early.
