Welcome to the Music on Snow 2026/2027 in Gastein
Music on Snow brings live music, a ski-season opening and alpine scenery together in the Gastein Valley in winter 2026/2027. The main open-air weekend is Friday 11 and Saturday 12 December 2026 at the Schlossalmbahn valley station in Bad Hofgastein, officially staged as Ö3 Gastein Sounds. Doors open at 18:00, shows start at 19:00. During the day the Gastein ski area is scheduled to operate with around 180 km of slopes.

Friday 11 December 2026 focuses on Austrian dialect pop, Austropop and indie: Pizzera & Jaus share the stage with folkshilfe, and KARL completes the bill. Saturday 12 December 2026 is built around Paul Kalkbrenner. Both nights use the same timetable: doors at 18:00, music from 19:00 on the open-air site beside the valley station. An official hard curfew is not published; after-show parties in town are common but should be confirmed locally.
Ski Gastein (Schlossalm, Angertal, Stubnerkogel and linked sectors) is due to open on both festival days, so visitors can ski first and walk to the stage in the evening. Live music in mountain huts and other winter concert formats run at different points in the season; they are part of the valley’s wider music-on-snow culture, not this two-night opening bill.

Visitor Tips: Travel & Accommodation in Gastein
- Travel: Take the train to Bad Hofgastein, then walk or use a shuttle to Schlossalmbahn; drivers use the B167 and the valley-station parking garage and should arrive early.
- Weather and clothing: December open air at about 850 m – ski jacket, hat, gloves and winter boots; the arena is standing-room and cold.
